To import a project, navigate to the Projects page and click on the import button you'll find on the top right of the page. Once clicked, you will see a pop-up modal where you can import from your device, or drag a file to, and then select Import. We support .docx, .odt, .rft. and .scriv file types. Can I share my project with people who don't use Novlr?

With Novlr’s link sharing function you can share your writing with friends, family, collaborators, and beta readers at any time, whether they have a Novlr account or not.

The link-sharing feature is a small but powerful one, and it's just the beginning of our collaboration tools (we hope to expand on this in future releases of Novlr). We wanted to develop a simple link that would allow you to share your project easily and that updates the content in real-time as your writing syncs with our servers.

You can share your project from the three-dot actions menu on the project table.

You can also share your project from the three-dot actions menu visible when you have your project open.

With the share modal open, you can choose to share your project overview, synopsis, share individual chapters, or the whole project with the switch of a toggle, and copy the share link with a click of the copy icon.

|| If you ever want to revoke share access, simply click the Stop sharing button, and the link will deactivate.

Novlr supports the latest, stable releases of all major browsers and platforms.

You should always use the most current version of your preferred browser to enjoy the best and most secure experience of Novlr. Your browser will notify you if there is a new version available.

Supported versions:

It is not possible to support browsers any further back than those listed due to possible security flaws in older versions that would impact the security of Novlr. Novlr may also work on alternative browsers to the ones listed here but may not have full support.

Who owns the copyright to my words? (byron)

No one but you owns the copyright to your words.

Let there be no confusion. You own your words.

|| Ownership and access to your writing is something that’s important to us and is something we’re very clear about. Your words are your words. Novlr is just a tool to help you write them.

While Novlr requires an active Novlr Pro or Plus subscription to write, edit, and add new projects beyond the five projects included in your free Novlr account, you can access and export your already written words at any time, even if you cancel. We firmly believe that if you’ve written it, you should have access to it so you can export and access any of your writing whenever you like without having to pay a cent.

We stake no claim over any of your written words. You can read more about this in our Terms of Service. While we can’t promise it will be an exhilarating read, we can promise that you are the sole copyright holder of anything you write while you’re using Novlr.

Are words in the notes section included in word counts?

Accepted Answer

No, words written in your notes section are not included in your word count analytics. They are, however, included in your words written statistics.

If you wrote anywhere in Novlr, these words will be calculated into your words written totals. But only words added to the manuscript word count of any individual project will be counted toward your word count analytics.
